My writings, old and new...

I've been an avid reader since I was 10 and my parents subscribed me to ''Boy's Life''. We lived in a small town without TV for 3 years; my family read as many books as we could! (My wife still occasionally mentions TV shows I've never seen; I think the books I read did me more good!) I'm going to put my opinions of books I've read and especially those I could not finish.

Several days ago, I had started reading "Dirge" by Alan Dean Foster. I'd made it through the first quarter or so of the book before putting it down. This book is the second in the series of the formation of the joing government between humans and an alien species. Now, in the first book written by Foster, he talked about a war between human and this alien species in which human and aliens had wiped out a species which had murdered a planet full of people.

I remembered the name of the alien (villign) species and was repulsed by how much human had reacted favourable to the villigns when they first met them. That soon changes...

Anyway, I was watching a rerun of the finest show on TV (Babylon 5) when the electricity quit. My neighbor has been trying to put in a double wide house (a manufactured house) on a lot a lot too small for something this big. In the process of putting this thing in, he cut down trees and managed to cut my phone line. That only took two days to be fixed...

He poured concrete over the easement and managed to bury my gas lline under concrete. So, the gas company had to put thru another gas line to my house and that required them to come into the crawspace beneath our house to relight the furnace.

On the positive side, the repair man fixed the furnace, which had been broken. Both events were a surprise and a surprise that we're glad was found in high, hot summer and not when the outside temperature had dropped to freezing...

Then, they discovered the old TV cable and checked to see iff'n they'd cut our TV cable... (Fortunately, they had not. This was the old cable, the cable that was cut when a neighbor decided to play "Farmer Brown" and shoveled up the land between the TV cable box and our house. The cable TV people ran in a new cable but ran it across the grass; it took about two months before the cable tv people got around to burying said TV cable.)

Enough B-otch-ing. That is the pronouncation that a friend has for "bitching"...

I'll turn in a real book report in a few days...
