My writings, old and new...

I've been an avid reader since I was 10 and my parents subscribed me to ''Boy's Life''. We lived in a small town without TV for 3 years; my family read as many books as we could! (My wife still occasionally mentions TV shows I've never seen; I think the books I read did me more good!) I'm going to put my opinions of books I've read and especially those I could not finish.

"The Compleat Strategyst" by John D. Williams

One of my favourite books in junior college was "The Compleat Strategyst" by John D. Williams. (2nd edition, Mc-Graw-Hill, New York).

One of the objections to "Game Theory" is that is it totally cynical, presumes all life is made up of "zero-sum games" and that each player either wins or loses. While this is very useful in formulating strageties, it doen't really help in "real life". However, the theory is very interesting and is a very interesting starting point for more advanced strategyes.

Mr. Williams approached this subject with a great deal of humour and yet a very informative style. The book is well worth reading. You would be amazed at how many results are contra-intutitive!
