My writings, old and new...

I've been an avid reader since I was 10 and my parents subscribed me to ''Boy's Life''. We lived in a small town without TV for 3 years; my family read as many books as we could! (My wife still occasionally mentions TV shows I've never seen; I think the books I read did me more good!) I'm going to put my opinions of books I've read and especially those I could not finish.

Eve 4 Feb 2025

2016 additions:
Veiled Wolf and a couple dozen grand kids a dozen generations removed from him were taking a relaxed trek through a wooded area near where Troy had once stood. It was a peaceful area and nothing remained of that achient death zone. They had stopped at various little villages and several little cities where elders had spoken of the glorious past, wars and peace.and what monsters the Romans were.
These ancient tourists had written the stories they had heard and given copies to these village elders. Some copies had gone to the Temple Masters and to Centuries stationed at Roman forts.
The Roman soldiers did not faze Viewed Wolf or his rather experienced people. They had seen multiple empires ride, bask in the joy of their perceived perfection and die. They could already see the coming fall of the Roman Empire.
They did not speak of this to the Romans.
Veiled Wolf was about to spring a surprise on them: write a detailed description of the area.
After their mid day meal, Vieled Wolf began a little speech:
"Many years ago, a war was fought between the city states in the mountainous Peninsula southwest of here and trade city near here. The legends say the war was about a beautiful Greek woman kidnapped by the Trojan King. They fought for years before the war ended in the destruction of the enemy capital of Troy. There could be other reasons why they may have fought. I would like everyone to write about the land we have traveled over. Then write what you think happened based on the land you can see and the legends village elders told us."
There was a pause; no one was surprisef, this wad not the first time Vieled Wolf had hand out this assignment. Vieked Wolf did not realize that the study of Veiled Wolf and certain other elders was considered a proper subject for scholarahip. Every couple of centuries the very oldest of their people were interviewed and comparative historians studied these histories and the histories written by much younger family members.
"Do not be afraid of writing what you think could have happened. Now is the time to create legends if you wish to."
They had taken to writing on papyrus that traders had carried from Egypt through the Darnella Straits and traded with people on the Eastern side of a great sea they had watched form. When they were done, they would take their stories to the great Library in Egypt. They knew their written material would be safe at the Alexander Library.
Veiled Wolf wrote far longer and much quicker that his kid folk. Despite the number of times they had seen him work creatively, it was still a bit of shocking surprise.
He gave an excellent description of the geology, foliage and animal life they had seen.
Then he wrote a story of a great war over a stolen queen and a war that ended in the firey death of Troy.
The other story was about trading partners who occasionally fought to control trade routes. In between large organized brawls, merchants and sailors peacefully traded.
Several times, the Greeks fought alongside the Trojans to help defend Troy from ",Eastern Barbarians".
The physical evidence and different stories suggested a streak of light across the sky had been followed by a burning ball which had landed on Tory and destroyed that city.
No one k job ew, it had been observed by people who were both very intent on surviving and who had no written lanuage. The clerics in Troy were dead and the Greek Clerics were afraid to come to the death site of Troy for genetations...
They resumed their pilgrimage to an unknown destination the next day.
Eventually, they stood on the edge of a Strait and contemplated going east. They decided there was no hurry and settled into an overnight camp. There were abundant wild vegetables, fruit and large fish they.enjoyed eating.
As always, they cleaned their camp and packed their gear before going to sleep. They depended on their great dogs to warn them. Hiwever, even these great dogs could not defend them from messages their God would send them in their sleep.
The sun was rising behind the hills to their east and the twilight was far along when God spoke:
"YOU MUST GO TO JEWRUSIUM AT ONCE TO BEAR WITNESS. EAT EMERGENCY RATIONS, FEED YOUR DOGS, DRINK THEVCOLD COFFEE FROM LAST NIGHT. YOU WILL KNOW THE DIRECTION OFCYOUR MARCH!"
They did as commanded.
They consumed cold perucam, cold bread and their cold coffee. The dogs dined on dried meat and cold river water.
One dog whimpeted and all watched as the water in the strait rose in the air and hovered. A smooth roadway formed across the now dry river. The dogs were put on their beds hanging on various camels and the little pilgrimage now formed into a single patrol line with Veiled Wolf near the front. Veiled Wolf gave the signal to proceed and one great grest great great great grandson lead the way across the magic rosd.
When all had crossed, Veiled Wolf signaled for a sprint.
They thundered across the land at 40 !miles an hour with camels not tiring and humans - men and women and great dogs - relaxed, focused and not tiring.

st seea Go to J----- in time to see a person of the same race they chat hidden in Forrest macenturies before tried in farcical "trial" and sentenced to death. Man is taken to courtyard and the sound of whipping is heard. Victim is taken away and next they see him forced to carry a Persian torture device up a hill. Victim is laid on this device and Veiled Wolf gods to him.
"We know you are very strong but no one should suffer your coming fate. We can give you something to kill you very gently."
"It has to happen," the condemned man said.

Veiled Wolf started praying in Ancient Aramaic. The condemned man, Jesus of Nazareth closed his eyes and did not see his wife Mary rub a clear liquid on his arm. It quickly after to disassociate the mental part of Jesus from the physical. He would scream and suffer but his mind would not feel it.
The Roman legionnaires drove large spikes through the wrists of Jesus and the other two condemned men. It was obvious that they did not like what they were doing. This group of Legit needs were not psychopaths and would have to live their actions. Somehow, they could not remember events like this being mentioned many v years before when the recruiter

Dismas and Gestas are the names sometimes mentioned as the two thieves crucified on crosses to the right and left of Jesus. In the New Testament accounts of the crucifixion, two men are mentioned, yet their names are never given. The names Dismas and Gestas do not come from the New Testament, but are taken from a pseudepigraphal book not included in the New Testament canon. As a result, whether Dismas and Gestas were the true names of the two men crucified at the time of Jesus is unknown.

As I have mentioned before, there are 4 sections I have thought of before and an expanded section before the big reveal.

A. Meets BBC Hamudsbi. Talk about that civilization. Put some of their rules on different legal pillars. Have future civilizations puzzled; have some of another Sect make comments to "stir the pot". God face palms and sighs...
B. Veiled Wolf and his sect and another sect explore Western side of Big river (later called the Darnelle Straits). They spent a lot of time building an observing post. God warns them a major change is coming and overnight a rock wall appears in front of several clans villages.
Earlier, both sects and friendly allies are fighting off fiends whose villages did not get walls. Both sects feel the need to go to the top of their new Rock wall. They see a watercraft with a circular design. There were people who looked like Pakasteinians. Their craft speed along with no apparent means of propulsion.
More about our heroes reactions...

C. Egyptian mathematician leave house. She is escorted safely to side entrance to Great Library of Alexander.

Hypatia advised Orestes, the Roman prefect of Alexandria, who was in the midst of a political feud with Cyril, the bishop of Alexandria. Rumors spread accusing her of preventing Orestes from reconciling with Cyril and, in March 415 AD, she was murdered by a mob of Christians led by a lector named Peter.[8][9]
Saint Theophilus of Alexandria (flourished 5th century; feast day, Egyptian Coptic Church, October 15; in the Syrian Church, October 17) was a theologian and patriarch of Alexandria, Egypt, violent opponent of non-Christian religions, severe critic of heterodox influence among Christian writers and monks, and a major figure in the ecclesiastical politics of the Eastern Church of his day.
Saint ??? C comes to Library and demands the mathematician so she can be killed. Veiled Wolf stands down the Saint...

The names Dismas and Gestas are first found in the apocryphal writing entitled "The Gospel of Nicodemus" that historians typically agree was written in the 4th century. Since this document was written over two centuries after the events and is found in a book containing other disputable information, few argue that much certainty can be attached to these two specific names.
Finally, it should be mentioned that Dismas (sometimes spelled Dysmas) was the name associated with the good thief who asked Jesus to remember him in paradise (Luke 23:43), while Gestas was the one who taunted Jesus along with the crowd. In the Roman Catholic tradition, Dismas was canonized as a saint whose feast is celebrated March 25.
